New Color, New Room!
“A new color for our walls will change the room for the better!” says Kim.
Rob shrugs. “I don’t know, will it be worth it?” Kim sighs, shaking her head. “If you take a closer look, you’ll see the paint is fading away. There are marks all on the wall too.”
Rob’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise. He steps closer to the wall in the living room. “Well I’ll be,” he whispers. “Ok,” -he stands up straight- “looks like it’s time for a new paint job in here. How much does interior painting cost nowadays?”
Kim shrugs. “I’m not sure, but we can find out on Google!” She takes her phone out and starts searching for an answer.
Here’s what she and Rob find out:
The Cost Of Interior Painting
Interior painting costs for rooms can range from $850 to $2,000 and higher. Whole interior home painting costs are usually $6,000 to $20,000 and more. It mainly depends on project size, what we’ll be painting, damages, paint quality, and if there’s a color change.
Cost To Paint The Average Single Room – $850. This includes painting the ceiling, walls, trim, and inner door.
Cost To Paint The Average Family Room – $1,000 to $2,000. This includes painting the ceilings, walls, and trim.
Whole House Interior Painting Cost For A Small Home – $6,000 to $10,000. This includes a full house repaint for homes under 1,800 square feet.
Whole House Interior Painting Cost For A Large Home – $20,000 and higher. This includes a full house repaint for homes over 3,000 square feet.
The Main Reasons The Cost Of Interior Painting Changes
Size. Larger homes usually need more time, labor, and materials. Two-story rooms, like some foyers, require special equipment like scaffolding.
What we’ll be painting. Normal rooms don’t add to the cost, but irregularly shaped ones may. They can take more or less time and material. Kitchens and bathrooms may cost differently depending on how complex they are to paint.
Damages. It’s not uncommon to find damages before or during a project. Some main ones include water damage, nicks, and wood damage. If we see any, we’ll make sure to talk to you before starting or continuing work.
Paint quality. Better paint tends to look better for longer. They do cost more, but you’ll love the look more for longer than if you choose lower-quality paint.
Color change. Changing colors take more materials, especially if you use different colors for different rooms.
